Boots!

One of my favorite things about cooler weather is being able to wear my knee-high boots.  And leather jackets.  And turtlenecks.  :)

Okay, so clearly I have to clean my camera lens.  Sorry about that.  But you get the idea.  (The colors in the first pic are pretty true.)

(Brown suede boots with a very soft thick comfy warm lining: Aldo (Aldo is great for narrow-calved women like me), Skirt: Forever 21, Sweater: Ann Taylor (Ann Taylor and Banana Republic tend to make the tightest highest turtle necks - I love turtlenecks, but only if the neck fits *perfectly* to the circumference and length of ones' neck.), Jacket: Arden B from back in the day when Arden B made quality clothes (real leather).  Unfortunately I don't think that's true anymore, but I haven't gone in a year or two...)

  1. i like that skirt. I could never pull it off with my hips, but it looks great on you. And you've always had such great knee high boots. I remember you had this pair from your mom that she got in the ... 70s? or something?

  2. Thanks Lisa! But after seeing these pictures, and how this outfit compares to some of my other clothes, I've decided to get rid of the skirt! :) It was a great skirt when it was new, but it's a bit too loose on me now, and just doesn't hang as well as it used to. It's time to send it to goodwill.

I've found another side benefit of doing these posts! This is going to help me clean out my closet! Time to start experimenting with some of my questionable clothing items... Watch for an interesting few weeks of outfits after Thanksgiving. :)

And yup, I still have those boots from the 70's! I love that my mom saved a few of her nicer pairs of shoes for me. I'm planning to do the same for my little girl - can you imagine the stuff I'll be able to hand down to her?!

  3. Ha! My daughter asked me the other day if I could save some of my clothes for her when she grows up and I told her no way - she wouldn't even want them when she got big enough to wear them. Maybe I shouldn't have spoken so hastily.

Any tips about buying boots that will stay in style for a long time? (Round toes, pointed toes, square toes, embellishments, etc?)

  4. Oops - I should set it up so that the blog notifies me when someone comments! Sorry for not responding a lot sooner Nikki. In my opinion almond toes are the best for boots, and almond or pointed toes for pumps, in terms of staying in style for a long time. Embellishments are generally a bad idea unless they are easily removable - they will go in and out of style and will date the shoes. Simple things like colorblocking are okay though.
